The future of shopping in Poland

Whilst much is made of the effects of recent waves of Polish immigration here in the UK, our new study The Future of Shopping in Poland looks east, to the effects of a burgeoning Polish economy and the behaviour of its increasingly confident consumers.

Consumer spending and retail sales in Poland are expected to double over the next decade; continuing consumer confidence, improving labour markets and solid disposable incomes are all supporting these vibrant consumer markets.

But where and how will the effects be felt? Our clients are not only asking us which towns, cities and regions in Poland will be the most attractive retail locations over the next ten years, but beyond this, how consumer demand will determine tenant mix and which locations should underpin acquisition or development strategy.

In order to answer these questions we are currently undertaking extensive analysis for our latest research study The Future of Shopping in Poland. This study will consider:

• The medium to long term outlook for the economy, including an assessment of key growth drivers, particularly the role of the consumer
• An evaluation of the key economic drivers of consumer markets for individual towns and cities
• Forecasts of local area incomes and consumer spending, split by 41 consumer categories
• An assessment of current retail capacity and mix versus current and future demand.

Full results will be available in March 2008. If you would like to know more about this study and how to access the results, please email William Thomson, Director of International Economics, at william.thomson@uk.experian.com or Jonathan De Mello, Director of Property Consultancy, at jonathan.demello@uk.experian.com.
