Latest news from Experian's Business Strategies division: January 2008
In this first newsletter of 2008, we look at the impact of online social networking and the rise of influential 'super advocates' with the power to make or break brands. This has implications for many organisations in terms of how they communicate with customers and whether they can tap into these networks effectively. The year has started badly for retailers as a range of factors conspire to keep UK shoppers at home, such as higher fuel costs and a gloomy housing market. In contrast, our new study on The Future of Shopping in Poland will look at the increasing confidence of Polish consumers in a growing economy and the opportunities this creates.
Recent research from the Future Foundation identifies a growing concern among teenagers regarding environmental issues, to the point of 'green angst'. The Future Foundation's Changing Lives conference takes place on Friday 1 February, taking paradox as its theme - can brands resolve the paradoxes and dilemmas facing the modern consumer-citizen and still make margins/build pro-active loyalty? We are also running two workshops to demonstrate the benefits and applications of Demographics Online, our new web-based analysis and mapping tool - details on the workshops and how to book a place are in the newsletter.
